Alfonso Saldaña serves as Vice President of the Alliance For Just Money Board of Directors and as National Co-Director of Move to Amend, a national grassroots movement working to establish that constitutional rights belong to human beings and that money is not protected political speech.
Based in Brownsville, Texas, Alfonso is a longtime organizer and advocate focused on challenging concentrated corporate and economic power and building a more democratic society. He began his work with Move to Amend as an intern and later served as Online Communications Coordinator before becoming National Co-Director in 2022. His work has included grassroots organizing, coalition building, public education, communications, and advocacy with elected officials across the country.
Alfonso’s involvement with monetary reform grew from his work examining the structures that allow wealth and political power to become increasingly concentrated. He believes democracy reform and monetary reform are deeply connected: both ultimately raise questions about who holds power, who makes fundamental economic decisions, and whether our institutions serve private interests or the public good.
Through his work with AFJM, Alfonso hopes to help build stronger connections between the monetary reform movement and movements for democracy, economic and environmental justice, and people-led governance.
